MICG X Rugby World Cup 2023
So what could be the link between the musée de l'Imprimerie et de la Communication graphique and the 2023 Rugby World Cup?
This summer at the museum, some leisure structures took part in workshops to create posters for the Rugby World Cup.
Creating a link between sporting events and cultural structures is the objective of these workshops. The idea is also to give children a place and visibility in the supporters' village, which will be held Place Bellecour, through the exhibition of their posters produced at the museum. Meet from September 23 at the supporters' village, Place Bellecour, to discover them!
• What are the objectives of this project?
The objective is to create a link between sporting events and cultural structures by offering activities and cross-meetings. The idea is also to give a place and visibility to children in the village of supporters through posters produced at the museum.
• How did the workshops go?
The workshops were led by artists and speakers from the museum who produced posters with the children using one of the techniques put forward at the museum (typography, engraving, stamping, collage, etc.). The themes have been divided into 2 categories: announcement of matches (5 posters) / values (5 posters).
- 5 posters for the 5 matches of the teams present in Lyon at OL Stadium (Wales vs Australia on Sunday September 24 at 9 p.m., Uruguay vs Namibia on Wednesday September 27 at 5:45 p.m., New Zealand vs Italy on Friday September 29 at 9 p.m. , New Zealand vs Uruguay on Thursday October 5 at 9 p.m., France vs Italy on Friday October 6 at 9 p.m.)
- 5 posters to promote the values conveyed by this sport and by the City of Lyon (Integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect, gender equality, inclusion, eco-responsibility, healthy sport)
• How were the young people participating in these workshops chosen?
The museum has made contact with the associative leisure structures which will benefit from places to take teenagers to watch the matches, as well as with other leisure centers which come to the museum regularly.
• Where will the posters be displayed?Find them in the supporters' village/fan zone which will be Place Bellecour from September 23rd.
