Fête des lumières
The museum is participating for the first time this year in the Fête des Lumières. Emily Dickinson's words, then exhibited in our walls, will be in the window of the typographic workshop, visible from rue de la Poulaillerie, from December 7 to 10, 2023.
The American poet's troubled relationship with sight and light made it possible to quickly identify the verses chosen to be printed using LED ribbons. The verses were thus broken down into two parts, each presented with a different typographic font. Characters by the Italian typographer Giambattista Bodoni, dating from 1798, for the first part of the text, and Mistral characters, created by the French typographer Roger Excoffon in 1953. This double typographic reference makes it possible to highlight the heritage and contemporary role that today plays the role of the Museum of Printing and Graphic Communication in France and abroad.
